Latest News : Ultra receives three Cogswell Awards
The Defense Security Service (DSS) honored Ultra Electronics with three James S. Cogswell Awards for industrial security excellence during a June 8, 2016, ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee.
The rigorous Cogswell Award selection process typically selects less than one percent of defense companies to receive this recognition. A DSS Industrial Security Representative may only nominate facilities that have earned at a minimum two consecutive “superior” industrial security review ratings and which show a sustained degree of excellence and innovation in their overall security program management, implementation and oversight.
The Ultra Electronics facilities honored were:
Ultra Electronics, Advanced Tactical Systems, Inc. in Austin, Texas (five consecutive superior ratings)
Ultra Electronics Secure Intelligence Systems, Inc. in Austin, Texas (three consecutive superior ratings)
Prologic, Inc. in Manassas, Virginia (three consecutive superior ratings)
The award is based on achieving security excellence. An award winning facility establishes and maintains a security program that far surpasses the requirements of the National Industrial Security Program as well as provides leadership within the security community.
About the Cogswell Award
The Cogswell award was established in 1966 and is named in honor of the late Air Force Colonel James S. Cogswell, who was the first chief of the unified office of Industrial Security. Colonel Cogswell is responsible for the underlying principle of the Industrial Security Program. That principle is the need for a true partnership between industry and government to ensure the protection of classified information, materials, and programs. The Cogswell award is the most prestigious honor the Defense Security Service may bestow upon cleared industry.
